2019 Gus Astley Student Awards
Entries for the Institute for Historic Building Conservation’s (IHBC's) 2019 Gus Astley Student Awards (GASA) close on 31 July 2019. The award is in memory of Gus Astley, former Membership Secretary of the IHBC, and is supported by the IHBC and the Gus Astley Memorial Fund.
You can submit relevant coursework for the chance to win £500. There are also smaller cash awards for commended entries, as well as free places at IHBC’s 2020 Annual School, so winners can receive their prizes in person at the School Dinner in Brighton.
The Award is presented for an outstanding item of taught-coursework accepted as part of either under-graduate or post-graduate courses ending in the academic years either to 31 July 2018 or 31 July 2019.
The subject should relate to one aspect or more of ‘Built or Historic Environment Conservation’ in its widest sense, including, for example, its evaluation (eg history, research or surveying), management (eg policy, finance, planning or operations such as site management), and intervention (eg design, technology or architecture).
Submission is by an online process, but if your coursework can’t be easily digitised you can submit a suitable digital record of it, such as a film record, as long as the record can be authenticated by your course tutor in accordance with IHBC's guidance.
Find out more and submit your course work here.
